A new toy!

So, one of the threads started on Friday night asked which progress meters people used to track their writing progress. Last year I used the NaNoWriMoProMe, as I will again this year. But one of the posts suggested an already-formatted Excel spreadsheet all ready for NaNo. I eagerly downloaded it Friday night to check it out and then remembered that I don't have Excel at home!

So, I finally had time to head over to the site and check out the download here at work. It is SO COOL! All you do is put in how many words your novel has so far and how many hours you wrote that day and it calculates the number of words you wrote that day, words per hour, words you have left, avg. words per day, what percent complete you are, what day you'll be done on if you keep up the same rate, approximate writing hours you have left, and a whole ton more. It even has graphs so you can visually see your progress. There's even a morale chart! I love new toys!

Eeeek! It's an anal retentive girl's dream!!

I must download it!!

Hmmm...when do I have time to DO these things? I'm still catching up on blogs!

And then Jennie talked about 100 questions to ask your character...

ACK! I need a week off from work!!!!!!

:D

Isn't the spreadsheet cool! I downloaded it last week and almost started turning cartwheels. The morale graph I thought was particularly neat.

It's totally cool! Now I am really bummed that I couldn't open it up on Friay night - I could have had so much fun playing with it over the weekend. I only had a few minutes to look at it yesterday during lunch.

I also saw that 100 questions thing over the weekend. I read the first three questions and felt my eyes glazing over. I didn't even scroll down to see what all the questions were. I've found that when I sit down and do all of that before I start a story, I completely stifle my creativity and give up writing after the first chapter (have you seen all of the uncompleted novels at my site??!!?). So, I quickly backed out of that page! :)
