And it begins...

So, I am afraid I just jinxed myself.

Two years ago on November 1, I had weekend guests and life was so chaotic that I decided not to do NaNo. Then, on November 2, the guests left, Matt was out of town, and this woman named Darci popped into my head and would NOT shut up, so I wrote. But I still had 0 words on November 1, but I won anyway.

Last year, I was getting ready to go out of town (Chicago), wrote around 800 words on November 1 and hated every last one. I didn't end up using them in my novel, so, esentially, my net total words on November 1 was 0. But I won, anyway.

Today, I wrote 2,441 words (on a laptop in a hotel in Chicago; traveling to Chicago at the beginning of NaNo seems to be a tradition!), which not only puts me ahead of the curve to finish by November 30 (which means 1,667 words a day) but also puts me ahead of the curve to finish by November 22 (my personal goal so that I am done before we leave for Michigan for Thanksgiving; this means 2,273 words a day). I've never been ahead of the curve on Day 1. I am afraid that means I am going to fail this year!

I am writing Trixie fanfic. Spoilers and such in the extended entry.

My novel is entitled Gethsemane, because that's the uni name, and each story will be considered a "Part" of the "novel." So, it essentially will have six parts: Closing Time (where the three girls start at their respective colleges; it's a Jix #2.2 Back to School CWP), the four-story Mart/Di story arc, and it will culminate in the Red Star story that the lovely Mary N. was kind enough to donate money for (although, technically, that occurs in Onyx Twilight). I am hoping to post them throughout December. Mary will have her story at the beginning of December (hopefully) and she will be able to have it privately, just for her, until between Christmas and New Year's when I post it, because that's when the story takes place, too.

Today I wrote a substantial part of Trixie moving into her dorm room at Michigan State. This will be a long part, because each girl will have a full story within "Closing Time."

Well, I don't want to hang out in the hotel business center much longer, but I felt like I needed to post on the first day of NaNo! :)

I hope you haven't jinxed yourself! Maybe I shouldn't say "Great Start!" :)

It almost sounds like Closing Time is another trilogy!
Here's to writing at least that many words every day for the next few weeks!

Would you feel better if I said "Break a leg!" instead of "Woohoo!" like I really want to? *grin*

Thanks, everyone! :)

Yes, Closing Time could have been three separate stories instead of one, but I wanted to write all three POVs in the same story. And it's a good thing, because now Trixie is carrying the other two girls in this one. I've written 6,528 words about Trixie and only 3,564 on the other two girls combined. They are NOT talking to me!
